What Bilinga collects
Bilinga collects no data. The app has no account, no sign-in, and no place to enter an email address for your child. It has no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. It includes no third-party toolkit that collects data. It is built so that its App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.
What stays on the device
Each child has a profile that stays on the device. It can include:
- a display name
- a picture symbol you choose in the app, from the pictures and symbols that come with Bilinga, not a photo of your child
- the language your child speaks at home, and the language they are learning
- an age band (4–6, 7–9, or 10–12), not a birthday
- whether they can read the learning language yet
- reading helpers, speaking speed, the Chinese voice, and a daily limit on Learn time
- favorites and recent lookups
- Learn progress, stickers, and practice days
- the voices you choose for the family
Kenny Lee never receives any of this.
The device’s region
To suggest a Chinese voice during setup, the app reads the device’s region setting. Hong Kong or Macau suggests Cantonese. Other regions suggest Mandarin. You can change the voice later, on that child’s page in Parent Zone. The app does not record the region, and it does not send it anywhere.
Speech
Spoken words are made on the device by Apple’s built-in voices. No audio is sent anywhere.
Microphone and voice search
The microphone is used only when your child taps it, to say a word instead of typing it. Recognition happens on the device. Nothing is recorded, saved, or sent. If the microphone or speech recognition is not allowed, the button stays hidden from your child. Parent Zone can show a short note so you can turn it back on.
Auto-translate
If a word is not in the dictionary yet, your child can ask the app to translate it. Translation happens on the device, and only when your child asks. You prepare a language pair in Parent Zone. iOS then downloads the language files from Apple. Bilinga sends nothing. A child cannot start that download.
Purchases
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Bilinga receives only Apple’s confirmation that a purchase is active. We do not receive payment details. A purchase is not linked to a child’s name.
Children
Bilinga is for children about 4 to 12, used with a parent. It is written so that it collects no personal information from children. That is how it is meant to meet the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States, Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), and similar laws.
Parent Zone opens only after a parental gate, a short task meant for an adult. A purchase started from a screen your child is using goes through that gate first. The screens your child uses have no ads, no social features, and no links that leave the app.
If you email us
If you email kenny.lee.apps@gmail.com, we use your email address and your message only to reply. We delete them when we no longer need them for that reply. The app itself never asks your child for an email address.
This website
This website does not use cookies. It does not use analytics. It does not load third-party scripts or fonts. The only thing it stores in your browser is the language you choose, so a later visit can open in that language. That choice stays on your device.
Vercel Inc. hosts the site and keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security, under its own policy. We do not use those logs for advertising.
Changes, and how to ask
If this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page and the date above changes. There is no account and no mailing list, so this page is where a change appears.
To ask a question, to ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to delete a message you sent, email kenny.lee.apps@gmail.com. We aim to reply within 3 business days. Because the app sends us nothing, a support message is the only personal information we would have, and only if you wrote to us.
